Summary

Amends the:

Criminal Code Act 1995
to: insert new offences in relation to: the smuggling of persons from Australia to another country, or from a country other than Australia to a third country; false travel or identity documents; cross-border firearms trafficking; and amend the theft and fraud offence provisions;
Crimes Act 1914
to amend the sentencing provisions;
Crimes (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act 1990
to include the substance “fantasy” as a psychotropic drug;
Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988
to ensure that remittance dealers are covered by the definition of “cash dealer”; and correct a cross-reference; and International
Transfer of Prisoners Act 1997
to clearly define the role of the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs. Also contains transitional provisions.
